Big News For Garlic: 10 Garlics

 10 Garlic Types

10 Distinct Garlic Types

In 2003 Gayle Volk, Ph.D. of the USDA/ARS ran DNA analysis on several large collections and determined that we have ten separate types of Garlic. If Botany's your interest, this research is going to answer many questions about the relationships between each garlic and the climate, soil, altitude, cultural, differences across the U.S. in thirteen locations. Each cooperating producer is being asked to make their collection of the garlic types available for public review and access.
