Garlic In The Field

 Big News for Garlic

In the Field

Each producer wants to grow the best garlic in terms of productivity, flavor, market, color, and storage quantities. Some garlic types - for whatever reason, internal trigger, or expression - will produce better in one region then another, while other garlics might do better in all. We don't know why. This study will help growers and gardners in the field answer the most common question: "If there's 10 garlics, which one should I grow?"

Why Grow Garlic: Today we witness garlic consumption at a rate of 3 or more pounds per person per year....

A Word from the Field: Key Project Leader, David Stern, updates these "Notes from the Field" four times a year to keep you informed about how research participants are progressing in the field.

Participating Growers: Meet research participants - 11 garlic growers both large and small - spread across the U.S. and in Ontario, Canada too.
