WALT LYONS
Walt Lyons, aka The Chief Clove of www.TheGarlicStore.com,
operates the Yucca Ridge Field Station, an applied research
facility on the High Plains northeast of Ft. Collins, CO.
In addition to a wide variety of atmospheric science research
programs, Yucca Ridge is also a certified organic garlic farm
and home to the TheGarlicStore.com, an e-commerce business
now entering its tenth year on the world wide web.
Recent acquisitions have included Corsican Red garlic - a
beautiful softneck brought back from its home in the middle
of the Mediterranean Sea. We also work with other growers
to maintain and propagate rare and heirloom varieties which
are then made available to gardeners and small growers across
the USA and even as far away as India and Dubai. The proximity
to Colorado State University and the USDA office in Ft. Collins
has allowed conducting several prior research efforts on long
term cold storage of garlic, the effects if spring planting
on yield and the cultivation of green garlic.
